Brantford CYO Girls Basketball Rep Teams

The Rep Teams are made up of players who try out and are chosen by the coaches. Each team will compete in Basketball Ontario Sanctioned games and/or tournaments at the level that is appropriate for the skills and experience of the team based on the recommendations of the coaches. The cost of being on a Rep Team will vary, as the cost is based on how many tournaments a team goes in, the cost of each tournament and how many players are on a team. All Brantford CYO Girls Basketball Rep Teams enter the Provincial Championships organized by the Ontario Basketball Association.
Brantford CYO Girls Basketball Rep Teams will consist of as many teams as there are interested participants and coaches. Teams will typically consist of a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 12.
Rep Team General Info
To provide athletes with the opportunity to develop basketball skills in a competitive environment while also supporting the development of character, fair play, and sportsmanship, Brantford CYO offers an extension of its house league program for those wishing to participate at the provincial level.
Any player who wishes to participate in the Travel Team program must attend tryouts for the highest-level team in their own age category. Players who wish to be considered for an older age division must attend tryouts for both their own age category and the older age category. The coaches will determine final placement based on ability and team requirements. Players are required to play for the team to which they are assigned, whether in their own age division or an older one.
If a player does not make the highest-level team in their age category, they may be invited to try out for the next-level team, if one exists. Players who do not attend tryouts for the highest-level team in their age category will not be eligible to try out for a lower-level team. This process ensures that all athletes are evaluated fairly and placed at the appropriate level of play.
In accordance with Ontario Basketball guidelines, any player who makes a CYO Travel Team is prohibited from playing all-star basketball with any other organization during the same season.
All players must be registered with Ontario Basketball and make a full commitment to the team. Equal participation is encouraged; however, equal playing time is not guaranteed from the Bantam division onward and will be determined at the coach’s discretion.
Brantford CYO Travel Teams are recognized throughout Ontario for their standard of play and conduct. Players, coaches, and parents are expected to uphold this reputation and proudly represent Brantford CYO Basketball and the City of Brantford.
